There, there now….

Hater of everything conservative, Marylin Sheppard is having a very bad day
Australia, I hate your guts. I suspect as well that tourists, students and migrants will be averse to a country that tortures innocent people in this manner and I hope the entire place collapses in a deep, dark depression brought on by a lazy, racist moron
I feel her pain and the feeling is exquisite. I am beside myself with pleasure that this prime idiot is upset.

  • Ol’ Maryloon has been off her meds for years.

Reminds me of one of those crazy old ladies who sit on their verandah, surrounded by a dozen cats and shouting obscenities at passers by.

  • Whittaker, another crazy cat lady.

You live in a very strange world where black is white, and everything is stuffed because you went to Vietnam 40+ years ago.

Have a good look at yourself and your anti Aussie ravings, ratbag. You are the only one in step.

Without ever having met you, I would bet that you have been a tourist in Vietnam at least five times.

  • There there now…….

  • Oh look, 17 bobby red-herring has popped up like a pus filled ‘white-head’ on a boil.

My interest was peaked by his slovenly contribution so I clothed myself in protective garb, similar to that worn by sewage treatment workers, and ventured over to his pitiable and un-read blog. Unsurprisingly I found the usual self-hatred of those who inhabit the inconsequential, narrow world-view of the dissolute left combined with a couple of the misanthropic thought-bubbles which masquerade as ‘thinking’ in his digital-puddle of irrelevance.

From his shambolic scribblings it appears 17 is taken by the mythos of Afghan cameleers and uses his famously shallow knowledge of history to claim they are a shining example of ‘assimilation’ by Muslims into Australian society.

Although he’s oft proven his negligent reading of history is incapable of reaching any deeper than a superficial ‘Peter FitzSimons’ like bandana appreciation of Australia’s past; for which he is regularly roasted on these pages, I thought he would be aware of the murderous attack by his ‘fave’ cameleers on a train-load of country picnickers in 1915. But as he has revealed his ignorance of the Islam inspired murder on that day; I provide a primer for his education, as difficult as it is to penetrate the left wing, Greens inspired ideological armour surrounding his history and fact challenged mind.

“On January 1, 1915 two Broken Hill men, both former camel drivers, armed themselves with rifles, a homemade flag bearing Islamic insignia and a large supply of ammunition and launched a surprise attack on the Picnic Train about 3 kilometres outside Broken Hill. The train was carrying about 1200 Broken Hill residents to Silverton where a picnic to celebrate the new year was to take place. The two Muslim men, Gool Mohamed, originally a Pashtun tribesman from Afghanistan and Mullah Abdullah from what is known today as Pakistan, decided to wage jihad against Australian infidels after Australia and the Ottoman Empire officially joined opposite sides in the WWI. The reasons for the terrorist attack were clearly stated by the perpetrators themselves. Both men knew very well they were going to die and left notes explaining that they had to become martyrs – DEFENDING THEIR FAITH and the caliphate.

The attack was not spontaneous. It was a planned and premeditated act. Both men wanted to inflict as much damage and kill as many infidels as possible and having almost the entire population of the tiny settlement packed into forty open, wooden carriages where people sat in rows, shoulder to shoulder on flat wooden benches, presented a great opportunity to do just that.

Gool and Abdullah knew very well that each January 1st, the Manchester Unity Order of Oldfellows held its annual New Year’s day picnic. The train carriages were normally used for taking ore to Port Pirie but once a year they were washed thoroughly, fitted with wooden benches and transformed into the Broken Hill Picnic Train. It was a perfect target in a flat area, with the train moving slowly and people sitting close to each other without much chance to hide or run anywhere. The two Muslim men used Gool’s ice-cream cart to transport their rifles, the flag and ammo to the place previously selected by them for the ambush, to avoid raising any suspicions.

The train left Broken Hill Sulphide Street station at 10 a.m. About two miles out of Broken Hill, an ice cream cart flying a Turkish flag was noticed by those on the train. It was on the northern side of the line close to the railway fence and two men, later identified as Gool Mohamed and Mulla Abdulla, lay in a trench beside the track within 30 yards of the passing train. They began firing as the train drew level with them The firing continued as the train passed with 20 or 30 shots being fired in total.

The train was brought to a halt further up the line. It was found that as a result of the attack on the train two people were killed and seven wounded. The murdered passengers were: 17-year-old Alma Cowie and William John Shaw who died instantly. The six wounded people were: Mary Kavanagh, George Stokes, Thomas Campbell, Lucy Shaw (daughter of William Shaw), Alma Crocker and Rose Crabb.

Soon after the assault Gool and Abdullah withdrew towards the west. During their attempted escape they came across and murdered Alfred E. Millard who had tried to hide in his hut. By this time the police were in full pursuit and when they sighted the two running assassins they fired their guns above their heads in order to force them to surrender, but instead Gool and Abdullah returned fire and seriously wounded Constable Robert Mills. The murderous pair made their last stand at the top of a hill where they found good cover behind large rocks. They were both shot dead by the police during an hour and a half gun battle.”

It’s clear you can take a Muslim out of the Afghan hills, but you can’t take the political ideology known as Islam out of a Muslim. The tale of Gool and Abdullah show they put their filthy ideology above the Australian identity they assume and will drop all pretence of citizenship at the merest slight.

The Malaysia solution is a dog’s breakfast. Plane loads of uneducated, non-Muslim, non-English speaking Burmese refugees are being dumped in Australia by Gillard’s new mates in Kuala Lumpur whilst the illegal arrivals supposed to be part of the much vaunted exchange are languishing in her Christmas Island gulag. A final nail in the coffin of Labor’s credibility is the news the Manus Island detention centre is to be refurbished and re-opened ASP.

No wonder the harpy referred to in Kev’s post is boiling like the wicked witch of the west.

  • Only PeterW could take himself seriously enough to offer the 1915 Broken Hill Massacre as evidence of the evils of Islam. His careful analysis has obviously picked up a pattern overlooked by Australian historians from Charles Bean to Robert J O’Neill.
On the bright side .. no abuse. He’s improving.

  • “…evidence of the evils of Islam…”

Did the incident occur? Yes. Was it motivated by the Afghan Cameleers’ religious beliefs so beloved by 17 hasn’t-got-a-clue red-herring? Yes.

Why did I use their actions as an example of the incompatibility of Islam with Australian society?

Easy to answer, it’s because 17 hasn’t-got-a-clue red-herring used their ‘assimilation’ to support his contention Islam is so friendly, benign and compatible with Australian society that we should hoist up our border protection skirts and let them pour into the country unconstrained.

He wrote in his ‘un-read weepings’: “Remember the Afghan Cameleers? They were Muslims – they’ve assimilated pretty well.” But as the story I related reveals, he was just talking shit as usual.

  • “But as the story I related reveals, he was just talking shit as usual”.
Any reasonable individual would regard these two (amongst hundreds of thousands of successfully assimilated Muslims in our two hundred year plus history) as the exception that proves the rule. This incident represents a trend only in PeterW’s fevered imagination.
Based on his cockeyed reasoning PeterW would no doubt also conclude after the stand at Eureka and the Catalpa incident (http://www.fremantleprison.com.au/whatson/previousexhibitions/escapefremantletofreedom/Documents/Escape%20essay%20from%20Signals.pdf) that Australians of Irish Catholic descent are a risk to our national security.
    “un-read weepings”
PeterW – obviously you read them….

  • “PeterW – obviously you read them…”

And my visit to your filthy pages doubled your readership…

“…of Irish Catholic descent are a risk to our national security…”

As the dupes who took part in the Eureka Stockade incident were from many backgrounds not the least; Californians, Canadians, Italians, Scots, English, French and Irish who demanded that they be afforded “true British justice like that enjoyed by their fellow colonists” 17 history-challenged red-herring is still talking shit.

  • “And my visit to your filthy pages doubled your readership…”
Love to know how you get to see my stats*. It’s that fevered imagination again….
    *1078 unique pageviews last week.
    “the dupes”….
Those dupes were seeking Manhood suffrage, Abolition of the property qualifications for members of parliament,
Payment of members, Short term parliaments, Equal electoral districts (5 of the 6 chartist demands) and
Abolition of diggers and storekeepers licenses.
Within a year of the rebellion the colonial authorities met all miners’ demands.
Dupes perhaps, but ultimately succesful dupes.
The people, united, will never be defeated.

  • “*1078 unique pageviews last week.”

    Meaningless crap.

“A unique pageview aggregates pageviews that are generated by the same user during the same session. A unique pageview represents the number of sessions during which that page was viewed one or more times.”

Like a dog returning to its vomit 17 bobby red-herring visits and re-visits his un-read weepings to bathe in his own abject sense of self-importance. Each time he flagellates himself by re-reading his turgid prose his “stats” record a session and thenceforth repeated page views during that session.

It’s clear from the maunderings he posts here that no reasonable person would visit his chamber-pot of a blog unless, like me, they “clothed [themselves] in protective garb, similar to that worn by sewage treatment workers… to sift through the usual self-hatred of those who inhabit the inconsequential, narrow world-view of the dissolute left” for a glimpse at the source of one of 17 red-herring’s misrepresentations.

His latest list of red-herrings is as usual empty of resonance with the subject introduced by the original post. His claim that the story of the Afghan cameleers proves the followers of Islam readily assimilate into Australian society has been shown to be incorrect. His claim that a few Fenian scum found amongst the 1854 Ballarat rioters, who were rightly seen by contemporaneous observers as exploiting the country’s resources and refusing to pay their fair share of taxes, somehow demonstrates that Australians of Irish Catholic descent are a risk to our national security is also incorrect. As his laughable attribution of a noble political cause to a few rioters, mostly foreign and temporary visitors to the Ballarat Goldfield, who took up broom-sticks and oaths of allegiance to a treasonous rag as part of their criminal resistance to a gold licence fee.

The “people united” were soundly defeated by the bayonets of the 12th and 40th regiments of Foot and their desiccated remains are tumbled together in a mass grave in Ballarat.

  • “Like a dog returning to its vomit”
Sorry ‘bout that PeterW, but my blog host has a setting “Don’t track your own page views” which is activated for my stats.
    “turgid prose”
OK let’s look at some examples –
“his un-read weepings to bathe in his own abject sense of self-importance”
“narrow world-view of the dissolute left”
“a few Fenian scum found amongst the 1854 Ballarat rioters”
“oaths of allegiance to a treasonous rag”
    Turgid? Guess who?
As for the outcome of the Eureka uprising, most of the miners’ complaints were resolved. Amongst other things, the monthly gold tax was abolished and the miners were given the right to vote with the introduction of suffrage legislation.
A less unjust form of licensing of Miners Rights costing £1 per year was introduced. The three miners arrested after the Bentley’s Eureka Hotel fire and the one hundred and fourteen arrested at the Eureka Stockade were granted general amnesty.
    To quote Mark Twain –
“The Ballarat miners protested, petitioned and complained – it was of no use; the Government held its ground, and went on collecting the tax. And not by pleasant methods… By and by there was a result; and I think it may be called the finest thing in Australian history. It was a revolution – small in size, but great politically; it was a strike for liberty, a struggle for a principle, a stand against injustice and oppression… It is another instance of a victory won by a lost battle. It adds an honourable page to history; the people know it and are proud of it. They keep green the memory of the men who fell at the Eureka Stockade”.
PeterW must believe that readers of this blog can’t tell the difference between a fact and an assertion.
    Once more, some examples –
Assertion – “As his laughable attribution of a noble political cause to a few rioters, mostly foreign and temporary visitors to the Ballarat Goldfield, who took up broom-sticks and oaths of allegiance to a treasonous rag as part of their criminal resistance to a gold licence fee.”
Fact – Mass public support for the captured ‘rebels’ in the colony’s capital of Melbourne when they were placed on trial resulted in the introduction of full white male suffrage for elections for the lower house in the Victorian parliament.
Geoffrey Blainey writes – “The first Parliament that met under Victoria’s new constitution was alert to the democratic spirit of the goldfields, and passed laws enabling each adult man in Victoria to vote at elections, to vote by secret ballot, and to stand for the Legislative Assembly.” Blainey, Geoffrey (1963). The Rush That Never Ended. Melbourne University Press. pp. 56–7.
So the miners lost the battle but won the war – reminds you of another conflict, doesn’t it?
The people, united, will never be defeated……..

  • ‘OK let’s look at some examples –
“his un-read weepings to bathe in his own abject sense of self-importance”
“narrow world-view of the dissolute left”
“a few Fenian scum found amongst the 1854 Ballarat rioters”
“oaths of allegiance to a treasonous rag”’

Excellent stuff, accurate and pithy – it’s lovely to read those beautifully crafted phrases again – sigh.

The silly claims of political outcomes from the Eureka riot are irrelevant and just more of 17 bobby red-herring’s unicorns. Soundly beaten as usual, 17 billy bob red-herring history-challenged copy and paste’s claims of Islamic assimilation have been shown to be false. His other egregious claim that we can conclude from “the stand at Eureka and the Catalpa incident that Australians of Irish Catholic descent are a risk to our national security” which implies the criminal rioters at Eureka were predominantly Irish Catholics is also false.

The site of the stockade is unremembered and unidentifiable. The soundly defeated “people, united” were tossed into a common grave and lie forgotten under a cracked concrete slab. In contrast the revered and much visited graves of the soldiers and police murdered by the rioters lie under individual headstones and beside a cared for memorial erected “at the request of the citizens of Ballarat.” The memorial is inscribed with their names and emblazoned with the word “Duty”. It stands in broad public view under a proud Australian national flag replete with ‘union jack’ in upper left canton.

As Geoffrey Blainey wrote: “… many saw the rebellion in 1854 as an uprising by outsiders who were exploiting the country’s resources and refusing to pay their fair share of taxes.” Bob Carr agreed with him when he described the Eureka riot as a “protest without consequence.”

The ‘rights’ used as unicorns by 17 bobby red-herring copy-and-paste were shaped by evolution not revolution.

Victoria was a very young colony when the rush began. Its system of governance was taking its first stumbling steps with much public debate over the form it should take in London as well as the colony itself. An initial law and order system of summary jurisdiction enforced by magistrates backed by semi-military armed police was undergoing a natural progression to a more representative governance. The sudden influx of tens of thousands of gold-seekers from across the world staggered the colony and interrupted its political and social development. As the rush subsided the voices of those calling for a more representative system could be heard again and the colony of Victoria was able to resume its previous progression and development of a mature and well organised system of government and public service provision.

The rush and subsequent agitations on a couple of Victoria’s goldfields delayed the colony’s progress which didn’t resume fully until after the easily won alluvial gold ran out and a more sustainable gold mining industry developed with large and small public companies raising capital to sink deep shafts into Bendigo and Ballarat’s quartz.

Once the rush gave way to industry even the previously rebellious ‘digger’ Peter Lalor realised the benefits of “true British justice” under the crown. He stood for parliament and joined the other devoted colonists in Burke’s “ties light as air but strong as iron” to their British heritage.

  • “…my blog host has a setting “Don’t track your own page views” which is activated for my stats.”

Only if it has logged your IP. New session, different IP your vomit.

  • Either you can’t read, or you comprehension skills are poor. Read your original post, and my riposte.
Nowhere did I say that Australians of Irish Catholic descent are a risk to our national security. What I did say was that to follow your line of reasoning, you would conclude they were.
If you are thick enough to assert that the acts of a couple of Muslims in 1915 define the assimilation of the hundreds of thousands who arrived here from the times of the camel drivers (the Ghans) until the early 20th century, you would also be thick enough to come to that conclusion about Irish Catholics given the Catalpa incident, and the seven or so Irish miners killed at Eureka. (Mullens, Quinn, Donaghey, Quinlan, O’Neill, Roney, & Boyle).
You quote three words of Bob Carr (uncited) out of context. Provide the citation or link if you can find only three words, otherwise a reasonable reader will conclude that they are inserted purely for (doubtful) effect.
Bob Carr thought the Eureka stand was significant enough to fly its flag on Parliament house in NSW in Macquarie Street on the anniversary in 2004.
“We should celebrate Eureka’s contribution to the spirit of Australian democracy,” Carr said. See link below.
Your old mate John Howard also had a view on the significance of the Eureka Stockade. Despite the fact that he wouldn’t allow the Eureka flag to fly over parliament house in Canberra, he seemed to believe that the event had significance in Australian history. To quote Howard in a letter to the Eureka Echo, in 2004: “As we reflect on our nation’s heritage, we should also celebrate the traditions and values that identify us as Australians such as optimism, tolerance, perseverance and mateship, the importance of family, a fair go, our willingness to pull together in times of hardship and adversity. Most of these qualities can readily be found in the story of the Eureka stockade.”
    See – http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/11/27/1101495457395.html
BTW, there’s a name for quoting large chunks of text (however irrelevant) without citation. It’s called plagiarism.

  • “BTW, there’s a name for quoting large chunks of text (however irrelevant) without citation. It’s called plagiarism.”

Really, well stop doing it 17 copy-and-paste bobby red herring.

But let’s look at a common definition of plagiarism: “The practice of taking someone else’s work or ideas and passing them off as one’s own.” Hilarious, 17 bobby red-herring lexicon challenged cut-and-paste; pray give examples of the “great slabs of text” you claim have been taken from another and passed off as my own.

“Read your original post, and my riposte.”

“Riposte,” that implies a quick and clever reply. Sadly for all your years of professed academia your boring tendentious twaddle has never risen to such heights.

“Nowhere did I say that Australians of Irish Catholic descent are a risk to our national security.”

Well obviously you can’t read, or comprehend the shit you write. You used the Eureka riot as an example of an incident from which fair-minded folk like myself could come to the reasonable conclusion Irish Catholics are a risk to our national security. You did so because of your uninformed belief that Irish Catholics made up a significant proportion of the agitators on the goldfields. They were not. Your argument has no substance.

In contrast followers of Islam made up 100% of the terrorist murderers on that picnic new year’s day morning in 1915.

“…he wouldn’t allow the Eureka flag to fly over parliament house in Canberra…”

Good thing too. The BLF shat on it and rendered it unusable for any decent purpose.

By the way, trying to muddle through your pitiable post with irrelevant cherry picked quotes from John Howard is just admitting the shallowness of your argument. It’s a recurring theme amongst the dissolute Malthusian left. The aggrandising of insignificant happenings to support their vomitus world view. The Eureka riot has been used and abused as a rallying point by many execrable notables such as Al ‘nice tie’ Grassby and Norm ‘beach house’ Gallagher of the socialist-left and BLF.

They use the names of the diggers duped into drilling with broomsticks and then killed on a December dawn to try and justify their debased ideology. 17 history-challenged cut-and-paste red-herring is just another in a long line of self-delusional wankers of the left to join Eureka’s conga line.

Oh dear, a moment of indecision, should I attribute the inspiration for the conga line phrase?

No bugger it. Who can be bothered, it’s only a post aimed at a lefty talking his usual shit.

  • “It’s a recurring theme amongst the dissolute Malthusian left.” – PeterW
“Victoria was a very young colony……..system of government and public service provision.” – somebody else.
    Plagiarism.

    • Bullshit dickwad – all my work.

I first wrote those phrases in 1994 as part of a presentation I gave in Ballarat on the 140th anniversary of the agitation to an audience of historians including Geoffrey Blainey and Weston Bate.

Weston in particular didn’t like the presentation. He hated the fact my research partners and I had the temerity to access and read every piece of primary source material held by the State Library of Victoria, the Parliament of Victoria Library, Victoria Police records, Victorian Magistrates Court reports, newspaper archives and several private family collections of diaries and letters written by people who either took part in the stockade incident or were witnesses.

  • “as part of a presentation I gave”
Stand-up comedy was obviously alive and well at Ballarat in 1994.

    • “Stand-up comedy was obviously alive and well at Ballarat in 1994.”

Oh the wit and humour of the clever little man. Can you bear it?

  • PeterW’s psychic superpowers are now out there for all to see. Not only does he know all my blog stats, he also knows what browsers I use, and what machines I run them on!
His knowledge on setting up a bit of code on a webpage which prevents Google Analytics counting own visits is however, not so strong.
I guess all superheroes have their fatal flaws. In his case it’s perseveration – particularly when it comes to repetitive abuse.

  • “he also knows what browsers I use…”

17 bobby dog-vomit told us which browser he uses and claimed it had super powers – here a fragment of 17 bobby red-herrings vomit revisited, if you can bear it:

“…my blog host has a setting “Don’t track your own page views” which is activated for my stats.”

Only if it has logged your IP. New session, different IP your vomit.

Not with Google Chrome. You’re simply wrong.”

So all the other browsers store session variables and / or cookies, but not 17 bobby dog-vomits extra special Google Chrome. Simply amazing.

“His knowledge on setting up a bit of code on a webpage which prevents Google Analytics counting own visits is however, not so strong.”

The reality is that Google Analytics, of which ‘tech-head’ 17 bobby red-herring is such a fan, only ‘ignores’ visits to WordPress when a user is logged in as an editor or higher of that particular blog.

As tech-head 17 bobby red-herring will be unable to resist a little sniff at his vomit whenever he chances upon a computer, he will, like a vain ‘toy-boy’ looking at himself in every shop window he passes, dash over to his unread weepings in the forlorn hope someone other than himself has passed by and left a comment. His unrequited visit will be recorded as a ‘unique page impression’ as even Google Analytics is not clairvoyant. However, the little bile stained paw prints around his puddle of vomit are his own.

“…and what machines I run them on!”

He’s boasted to us in the past that he uses an iPad whilst bemoaning the lack of connectivity he’d discovered when travelling. Something he claimed would be addressed when Gillard / Rudd’s budget blowing fishing-line-to-the-home was rolled out – how’s that going I wonder.

So 17 bobby red-herring dog-vomit says he uses Google Chrome and can script his blog pages so its magical qualities alone will not log his sniffy return to his unread weepings and claims he uses an iPad. But as Chrome won’t run on Apple products like iPhone, iPod or 17’s big iPod Touch (otherwise known as an iPad) for anyone else, he should let Google know how he hacked his iPad and overcame it’s crippled javascript engine to install and run Chrome – Google will be well pleased.

But then 17 bobby red-herring has only concocted this red-herring discussion in his usual desperation to deflect further criticism of his silly left wing claims of Islamic assimilation into Australian society. Claims which have been shown (as usual) to be the maunderings of a history challenged nit wit.

Yawn another red-herring, just like his repetitive references to “perseveration”.

    Can you bear it?

  • PeterW continues to perseverate. The obsessions vary, but the characteristic repetitive behaviors persist.
BTW, I don’t use WordPress. It’s strange that he hasn’t picked that up, given the obvious deep knowledge of my blog that he’s somehow developed despite claiming to ignore it.

  • “I don’t use WordPress…”

    Pffffft

As Hoover = vacuum cleaner so WordPress = blog.

    Another red-herring from 17 bobby red-herring, history challenged dog-vomit.

    Can you bear it?

  • “Go here…”

Oh look, the clever little man can use Google.

And that is such a big word too.

    Can you bear it?
