ATSIC refuses to play dead

I recall Weird Whitlam gutting the Army for having the temerity to fight his Communist mates and am saddened by the fact that us professional soldiers didn’t do something to stop the rot. It occurs to me that we could have tried to sell our Tanks, artillery pieces, APCs and M16 rifles to help fund a legal battle against the Government. This comes to mind as I read an article in today’s Australian that reports ATSIC is planning to sell their assetts to fight their long overdue demise. True. Believe me.
ATSIC commissioners plan to sell some of the agency’s $8 million in property and assets ? including a $3 million collection of indigenous art ? to fund a legal battle with the Howard Government.
Like the Tanks, artillery pieces, APCs and M16 rifles of the 70s, I’m of the opinion that anything ATSIC owns is actually a part of the National assett base and thus belongs to the taxpayer, not some miscreant grabbing for money and power out West. Can’t we just send in the removalists and bury this beast. ATSIC is dead and the corpse is starting to stink.

  • Don’t be silly Kev, anything that ATSIC ‘owns’ is up for grabs for its cast and crew.

Why do you think the evil, racist, baby eating Howard govt wants to close it down?

  • Just a niggling difference Kev: ATSIC always was a stinking corpse.

There is precdent: taxpayer and council ratepayer artistes believe anything guvmnt, `commisions’ is still theirs. They remove their `works of art’ when the govt. responsible for the crime of handing over taxpayers’ property to artistes `interferes’ and `laters the work’. I vouchsafe this: having had a converstion with another bloody socvialsito collective of professional dole bludgers called artistes. I was shown the evidence. I remarked to a friend afterwards, `of, course, they can be charged convicted of theft, that seems not to have entered their calculations’ To put it into perspective, the evidence amounted to nothing much at all. The taxpayers were stiffed by the govt. responsible for over a six figure sum each `work’. Now, if ATSIC, though the art is most likely rubbish , they should be convicted and sentenced. That $3m, is probably greater as of what taxpayer was charged for it, and each tax dollar is actually is to real taxpayers a minimum of three dollars. More like 4- 6 dollars. So, for that `collection, the taxed were slugged a minimum of $9million dollars. That is some heist if they are allowed to get away with it, along with the theft of all the other assets, such as they be, for which good old taxpyer has been slugged a minumn three times the nominal valuation.
