Obamacare

At the Innauguration....Trump supporter Brighde Staatz, from The Gap in Brisbane is posing for photos with her husband, former US baseball player Justin Staatz, and their 18-month-old son Mason.

I am a Trump fan, I agree with a lot of his policies and I don't like Obamacare"

Why not?

Well, it appears that her health insurance premiums have skyrocketed under Obamacare.

She says;

For my family of three I pay $1500 a month and that's absurd in my opinion. Ordinary Americans can't afford that.

Only a socialist would think that's reasonable.

  • I pay $2,000 p.a. full cover for my wife only. DVA pays all my expenses.

  • There is no such thing as “Obamacare”, and never has been.
There is a programme called the The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
The coverage is complicated and a great deal depends on what state you live in and whether your employer contributes.
To take one anecdotal report from a Trump supporter and apply it to the whole scheme is rubbish.
The repeal is symbolic and ideologically driven. It has nothing to do with affordability.
Remember the bullshit about death panels?
It will be fascinating to see what replaces it (as the GOP has promised). The hilarious fact is that in the final analysis, the working poor in the USA (and they comprise 9.5 million) will benefit, as health cover has become an issue. In the end, whatever they end up with will be Obama’s legacy. He was the first POTUS with the courage to attempt to deal with the issue.
“Only a socialist would think that’s reasonable”.
You need to be a bit careful with that “socialist” word.
I keep hearing on the Right wing blogs that “socialism” is when the government takes money from one set of taxpayers and gives it to another. Isn’t that what DVA does when it pays well deserved disability benefits to ex-service personnel?

    • It’s generally referred to in the MSM as Obamacare and the statement stands. A family of three are paying $1500 a month medical insurance and no way that can be accepted as an answer to the US health care issues.

I don’t need to be careful at all about using the term socialist. Obama is a socialist and your selective example doessn’t hold water. Socialism is a lot more than redistribution of wealth.

      But you know that already.
