It’s on!

Kevin ‘Tricky’ Rudd has thrown his hat in the ring as Kim Beazley gives in to pressure and declares a spill of his entire frontbench.

Mr Beazley today declared a spill of his entire frontbench following a fortnight of pressure for him to stand aside in favour of Labor’s foreign affairs spokesman Kevin Rudd.

It just keeps on getting better

Labor’s health spokeswoman Julia Gillard will make a statement on the leadership spill later today, her spokeswoman said.

Ms Gillard, the member for Lalor in Victoria, has been mooted as a possible leader or deputy leader.

In the past she was endorsed for the leadership position by former leader Mark Latham.

Personal endorsement by Latham…mmm that should help.

With ‘Tricky’ Rudds carping voice and Julia’s left wing antics it bodes well for us conservatives in 2007.

  • Although Kim Beazley’s time had come and gone this new desperate ALP leadership experiment will fail.

Rudd and Gillard lost all credibility when they dissembled during their dishonest defence of Latham’s lie that he had been `fully briefed’ about the situation in Iraq instead of the usual quick opposition leaders intro brief about Pine Gap, DSD, ASIS and ASIO etc.

Rudd’s personal history is littered with examples of `sharp practice’ and bullying behaviour – his time at the helm of the Queensland Premiere’s department is well remembered by many public servants as a period of personal abuse and disloyalty by him.

His Dilkera Street tax problems and 24/7 air conditioner will haunt him every time he opens his mouth about climate change and taxation.

Rudd’s first 7.30 Report performance as leader was very revealing, he was `too prepared’ and robotically rehearsed for much of the time, but when challenged was quick to anger and resorted to bullying and snide `un-pleasantries’.

Kerry O’Brien was surprised by Rudd’s obnoxious combative manner and clearly did not like him, it doesn’t bode well for his future appearances.

Rudd revealed more of his hidden traits than he planned when he arrogantly told O’Brien HE was going to run the Parliamentary Labor Party and that if his `comrades’ didn’t like it then `tough’.

This years lacklustre question time performance with its nit picking reliance on the Cole Enquiry was repeated today, Rudd’s series of questions was predictable and uninspiring – Howard and his team revelled in his ineffectual debut.

Never before has Australia been cursed with such a talent free federal opposition.

  • I don’t think he’s the ALP’s answer either. He may not be a loose cannon like Latham but the ropes holding him down are frayed and the ship’s sailing though a heavy swell. I didn’t see him on Question Time post promotion but have previously and he comes across like a school teacher ticking of the kids or a nagging wife.

Not my idea of a leader or PM but of course the true believers will allow him honeymoon time and pray he beats Howard but I just can’t see it.
